Curtis Berry, Matthew Chicola, and David Miles would clinch their first career varsity wins yesterday, as both the boys and girls tennis teams would sweep Bryan county for the first region win of the season for both teams. This is the first 5-0 victory for the boys team in the past two seasons. Matthew Chicola , David Miles and Thomas Rigdon would all win their singles matchups. Doubles partners Andre Snyder and Daniel Durden, as well as partners Curtis Berry and Mitchell Brown, would win their doubles matchups.
Coach Tony Smith and I are both incredibly proud of the boys team as they have had to fight hard to find success. The boys’ team is young this year and we are excited about the future with these guys.
The girls’ team would also sweep Bryan county yesterday. Their play has improved greatly over the past two weeks. They have worked hard to eliminate errors. Haley Callaway, Makayla Williams, and Hannah Campbell won their singles matchups. Partners Mary Ruth Berry and Lexi Hadden, as well as partners Abi Zerwig and Layni Lanier won their doubles matchups.
Today we will face Vidalia in a critical home region matchup. I shared with the team Monday that yesterday’s matchup against Bryan and today’s matchup against Vidalia are of dire importance in regards to our standing in the region and playoff hopes. Please come out and support us.
