The Tiger Boy’s varsity golf team traveled to Savannah Golf Club to compete in the 2019 Benedictine Adidas Invitational. There were 12 teams competing on this beautiful historic course in Savannah. Savannah Golf Club is a strictly private course in Savannah and is one of the oldest golf clubs in the United States dating back to 1794. The historical course is extremely tough with greens that are elevated. The greens were rolling very fast and the conditions were very windy.
The Tiger Boys finished tied for 2nd place with Richmond Hill and Statesboro. Our total score was 321 with Ian Glanton shooting a 74, Grayson Bowen an 80, Will Altman 81, Cade Curl 85, Jackson Lonngrear 86, and Lawson Salter a 96. Glynn Academy won the event with a score of 307.
Ian Glanton was tournament low-medalist with a round of 74. A highlight of Ian’s round would come on hole 10, when he holed out from the fairway to score a 2 and make an eagle on the par 4. He was excited and the Tigers were proud to capture our 2nd low-medalist award in an invitational this year.
The Tigers varsity boys will travel to Douglas on April 22nd to compete in the Neil Grahom Invitational. Our Area tournament to decide state qualifiers will be held on April 30th at WIllow Lake. The Tiger golf teams are quickly approaching post season play! Go Tigers!!!!
